Comfort and trust are the two most important feelings any Contractor must instill in their owners. How We Started.
Beacon Bay Construction was founded by Eric Johannessen. Eric is a 3rd generation contractor. He grew up working with his father in home construction in upstate New York; he has a Master’s in Architecture degree from Virginia Tech, has been licensed since 2000 in California and since 2004 in Florida, and has built multi-million dollar commercial, hospitality, and residential projects across the US. Construction is in his blood and is one of his passions. He’s renovated every home he’s ever owned, and he can’t wait to help you build or renovate yours. Eric happily resides in Winter Park, FL with his wife Shannon and their four children.
Where Do We Service?
We service the greater Central Florida area. We have offices in Orlando, but we have a wide reach including but not limited to Orange, Seminole, Lake, Sumter, Polk, Osceola, Brevard, and Volusia counties. Give us a call; if we don’t service your area, we can help you find someone who does. Our goal is to be the General Contractor you turn to when you need someone you trust and can count on.
Are You Licensed & Insured?
We are! You would be surprised to learn, there are a lot of Contractors out there who are not, but claim they are, and we beg of any owner contemplating hiring a, “licensed & insured contractor” to verify their license on-line at www.myfloridalicense.com. If you sign a contract with an un-licensed contractor and give them a deposit, it is legally un-enforceable - they can disappear - and you have no recourse! The State of Florida has mandated significant criteria to protect homeowners by enforcing strict licensing standards. Do your research; we are at the top of that criteria as a Certified General Contractor (CGC1507250) which means we are the most qualified, the most tested, the most experienced, and the most capable to State standards.
Did you know the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) in Florida mandates that contractors include their license number in all advertising? Next time you see a pick-up truck with a, “Contractor” who says, “licensed and insured”, but no license number – run! Because you know what they do? They obtain a local business license from the County or City they live in, and say, “I’m licensed”! You could go down to the office, pay $75, and obtain a business license in about an hour. Don’t be fooled!

From building a new custom home, a new kitchen or bathroom, or even a new addition - we have architects, designers, subcontractors and all the vendors you need to build the project of your dreams. We do Additions.
Do you need more space? If so, let’s talk about an adding on to your home. From a sun room to a second or third floor we have worked on every type of addition project. Keep in mind that your existing home should flow into your addition as if it were always there. To do this you need someone with experience. We have that experience, we have done it for countless clients and we’ve done it to our own homes! We can help you from the planning stages all the way through the finished results of your addition.

We love kitchens. Everyone always gathers in the kitchen and some of our favorite memories were in our grandparent’s kitchens and our own. We work with the best kitchen designers to conceptualize the best use of space for your kitchen. We do Bathrooms.
What type of bathroom do you dream of? From luxury master baths to functional pool baths, we’ve done it all. Give us a budget and we will get to work on the design that best fits your needs. A great bathroom design is important. Second only to the kitchen, the bathrooms in your home are what set your home apart and above. They are also a huge factor when it comes to the resale value of your home.

What Don’t We Do?
Despite all of our talents, our licensing, and abilities, we too have to hire licensed and insured contractors for roofing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and pools. See the State of Florida considers these specialty trades, which require a lot of hands-on specific learning. We’ve all heard of an electrical apprentice, to journeyman, to master electrician - right? They too need to learn their craft, have years of experience, pass the State exam and carry a license number. Don’t let the concrete guy wire the bedroom addition no matter what they tell you they can do – okay?
